I do wanna head one thing off because some feed back came in. “I had to translate.” Yes, you will, because the characters in the situation can’t understand the language. I’m sorry if that wasn’t properly conveyed. You’ll need to translate German to English. This is a deliberate writing choice, and I PROMISE if you stick with me, it will be resolved VERY soon. To anyone who does speak German, I’m sorry if the sentence structure is poor, I’m not a native speaker of your beautiful language. I chose German specifically for two reasons.
First, we always, for some reason, associate Elves as a culture with mid-evil/High Fantasy and make several efforts to make them seem otherworldly. Tolkien had his part to play in this, but I wanted to achieve the same setup for them, and at the same time keep them as descended from Earthly humanity. Then an old commercial came to mind:
This fucking commercial is amazing! It was both funny as hell, and kinda killed Xzibitz tv show career. Also this motherfucker came on to play Lucifer in Constantine. I love everything about these commercials. SO, this is where our elves are coming from.
Secondly, I wanted to make a culture of people who were all, science/knowledge, magic, but these people are not connected to the planet. As we move along, I’ll reveal a few things regarding their daily lives, rituals, ect. I hope you’ll like them. Somethings will work, some won’t, I get that…but I really hope you all will tag along for this part of the journey. I’m really excited to share my take on elves and the drama that will unfold within the worldly context. Please look forward to it.
I’m working on the next issue. I have the first draft done. I’m going over it, and I had some ideas on how to achieve its goals… Also I chose an outfit for Hanu-el. Also let me address this. It’s not a spoiler or anything, as she, Hanu-el, went through this in Dream 06
Sooooooooo, Dama is about to be his bullshit, again… Hanu-el is about to be on her bullshit AGAIN, and I love it. It’s gonna get weird. I saw, a tiktok, were two dogs were going through the same thing they’re about to go through, and the female was SUPER aggressive, and it was hilarious!! That poor male dog didn’t know what to do. I love them both. So yeah, Hanu-el is about to be wild and mean, and I love that for her. Pray for Damascus, because this time, he will not much space to passive aggressive this time. Hanu-el is hungry and everybody’s on the menu…
I’ve been having a lot of fun with this arc so far. I’m making some adjustments as things go along. I don’t want to rush a lot, nor do I want things to feel slow. I’m hoping to find the balance this out. Summer is coming, and one my nieces graduates this year, so the May issue might be a little late, but I’ll try to get it to you all as quickly as possible. I may stream along the way…maybe… We’ll see.
