Happy Birthday Raylinda

…once again, in universe. Hoooooo boy. May was a beast of a month this year. My niece graduated, and is moving in to the next phase of her life. You love to see it. It was a beautiful moment to see her walk across that stage. Getting ready for Juneteenth. I love that holiday. It’s gonna be fun.

Alright, on to Reylinda Angeline Windgate. Rei is a hold over from the original version of the comic. She was always the childhood friend to ex-girlfriend of Damascus. One that he was always on good terms with. Rei is Damascus oldest friend. They were raised together as children, and when she met Hanu-el, the two did not get along. She thought Hanu-el was weird for sleeping under a table. Clearly she came around.

As the three would get older Hanu-el and Rei would grow closer as their relationship with Damascus would grow apart. For Rei her feelings would change to romance, and grow sexual. The relationship however grew tense as her parents took an offer to become professors at Sanctuary. She’s choose to join them on that leg of their journey as a student. The opportunities it afforded her future were too good to pass up. The resulting break up would become a source of regret.

She’d meet him again, later and settled into being his bestie, and the relationship would become platonic. For her side she’d become very accomplished in her life. She is a doctor, (white mage in combat), working on her residency. In addition to this, she’s a Lioness, and a squire in the Pacific Sanctuary Cross Knights. This woman has shit to do, and places to go.

She was created when I came up with the original version of the story, Dreamers Dynasty. I was inspired, in case you can’t tell, by Final Fantasy. Specifically 8, and 9. I wanted to have a job system. I didn’t really understand how a job system was supposed to work in tandem with a magic system. I wanted to make a “Final Fantasy” with black people in it. Oof…

So on that note. She was the first character I gave a job too. I felt it was easier to organize each characters abilities if they correlated to a job they held. Originally I wanted to have her become a Red Mage, but then I played Final Fantasy Tactics and fell in love with the outfits, and well…

I always mixed these two jobs, but then I mixed…

…and let me tell you. The game came up with Reylinda, and I was like…yup. So yeah, thanks for that Square. Anyways, is a magical present she can’t use a bow…that’s for another job, for another character I’ll talk about later. She needed a weapon that suites her needs to use magic, and be a markswoman. The weapon she chose is a modified version of the Accuracy International L96A1/AW with a hidden mana crystal in the butt of the weapon. The crystal doesn’t throw the gun off balance and serves as a focus point for larger spells. Her side arm varies based on access and situation.

I wrote her to tomboyish in nature, but very feminine. I do plan of filling her out a bit more as things go on. She’s struggling with her own feelings about the events that have occurred, and I want to write her to be supportive and a little wild, but cunty too. We’ll see where the journey takes us. For now, that’s all I have to say, and hope you’ll look forward to the next drop.
